Project REAL was recently honored to be one of only four organizations in the United States selected to participate in the Play By the Rules (PBR) program, a practical application of law to students' daily lives. This program will provide 50,000 middle-schoolers with practical knowledge about state-specific laws. While our programs are currently available to all K-12 students in Clark County, PBR will expand to other counties over the next few years. REAL Drama addresses a contemporary issue by bringing a play into the classroom. The current REAL Drama production is titled 'Home is Where the Heart is .... or is it?' and addresses an immigration-related situation faced by thousands of families in the US. The play focuses on a family of 'mixed immigration status' comprising both legal and illegal family members which is involved in 'removal' (deportation) proceedings. Following the play, performed at middle and high schools by actors from the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts, an immigration professional answers students' questions. KNTV, Las Vegas Channel 3, filmed and featured the play on the morning news show 'Wake up with the Wagners'. Read more about the play. | |||
